Are you a song repeater?

Dear you,

My Song of Now

Are you a song repeater? The kind of person who puts a song on repeat and listens to it over and over and over again. If so, I’m with you! I’m a song repeater too!

I never really had a name for this, other than that I was a song repeater, until I met this very fascinating guy named Fred on a date not too long ago. I knew he was a fascinating person when he’d told me he was learning Hebrew just cause he liked the way the written script looked and because he was into some Hebrew bands. He played one such album for me, saying that it was his go-to whenever he was painting.

“Oh, you’re a song repeater just like me!” I said. And his reply completely blew me away! Are you ready for it? He was like, “I call it the song of now.”

THE SONG OF NOW! Not only was this guy fascinating, he was a bloody genius!

I am all about The Song of Now. I have always been about it; thanks to Fred, I now have a perfect name for it.

IT TURNS OUT MANY OF YOU ARE SONG REPEATERS

I have been asking my friends. And pretty much everyone I’ve asked said yes. Not only that, but they lit right up and were so delighted and eager to tell me about it. I asked my good friend Bre if she was a song repeater in the car en route home from hiking the other day, and she was like, “Oh yeah, for 2 months at a time!” We then listened to her Song of Now, then mine. It was the sweetest 💞. My friend Paul messaged me yesterday suggesting I do an Instagram video with the song Mmmbop, and I was like, “Are you a song repeater? Is that your Song of Now?” And he was like “YES!” And that the song fondly reminded him of his childhood. See what I mean, there is something people LOVE about this conversation.

My current Song of Now is “Slipping Through My Fingers” from the Mamma Mia soundtrack. It was gifted to me yesterday by Samira, the barista from my local coffee shop, who was playing it when I walked in. And guess what, she’s also a song repeater and shared that she repeats a song about 10 times in a row. I popped back in this morning to let her know that I loved her Song of Now, but that it had me in tears by the end of the day. She nodded. She knew. That’s what happens when you let your Song of Now touch you. It lives in you. Does things to you.

THIS IS VERY COOL

Did you know that the water in our cells reformate in response to the vibrations from music? I’d heard that on a podcast a few months ago, and it has captured my imagination ever since. This sense that my body is actually changing. Reshaping in response to the music.

KEY >>> This is what it means to be supported. That your support is actually changing YOU (not just your productivity or performance). Changing your thoughts and emotions, and reshaping your posture and movements.

Song repeaters, here are three things to consider about music as a source of support:

  1. Let it happen. Yield and allow yourself to be played by the music. Step back. Let the music permeate you, live in you, change you, and work it’s intelligence on you.

  2. Notice how it’s changing you. Your thoughts, emotions, body, and your cells! What is happening? Notice.

  3. Notice how it’s supporting you. What possibilities open up for you with THIS song? What are you pulling off with your song that wasn’t possible without it?

Of course, my Song of Now is playing on my iPhone beside me. You have actually been listening to my song this whole time. It’s showing up in the words and stories I’ve shared here today. Shortly, I’ll transition to creating some social media posts to share this blog, and you bet that my Song of Now will be the theme music. As if my blogs release out into the world on the wings of my Song of Now.

Dear you, you are indeed wise for being a song repeater. For bringing such genius support into your life. I love this for you.

Enjoy your Song of Now. Let it shape your story of now! Let it support you, juice you up, and shape shift you into whatever your heart desires!

That was fun, and I loved having you here. See you soon!

P.S. My last blog was a hoot! Titled “Hy hair is gross.” It’s what I text my good friend when she asks me out for coffee in the morning, and I feel dirty and disgusting. Gross hair has never stopped us from getting together. And that sense of belonging, no matter what, is what the blog was about.
